My last day in Bogota

It is my last day in Bogota and Evan is starting to freak out about me leaving - guess I am just awesome!  ;)

I need to come back to get things settled for the girls like school, camp, doctor, dentist, etc...Also, I will be taking a few weeks maternity leave when the girls arrive in LA to help with their transition so I want to get caught up at work and get everything ready there. I love my job so much and they have great perks like making up the 40% that you don't get from family leave for 10 weeks!

We had a good day today as it was our integration meeting where the girls are interviewed about us and then we are interviewed about them now that it has been a week. For us it is formality only because we have spent time with the girls already including our trip together to Ohio for them to meet my family. Everything went great and we were given a "congratulations" by ICBF and were out in about 30 minutes. ...easy peasy!

After integration we went to the park which was fun. We haven't had a lot of sun so this was pretty much our first chance to use the basketball we bought last week. Evan and I both got sunburnt and I never burn. Maybe since we are higher up in altitude? No idea but it is pretty funny. Evan will go get some sunscreen next time he is out.

The girls wanted chicken fingers since they haven't had them in months so we went on a search but the best we could do was a type of KFC place. Here they give you clear plastic gloves so your hands don't get all greasy - fantastic! We came back to the house for the girl's English lesson and they were not very focused as they were full and tired. Glad that their normal tutor time is 10am so that the lessons are worth it. We all talked with the tutor after for a little while and decided to make schedules for the girls so they have some structure which I think they will like. They were so tired today that we moved their current bedtime of 10 to 9:30. We are learning by practice and seeing how things go along day by day.

While we were out eating the girls asked if Mauricio could drive by the institution (orphanage) they lived in for 7 years starting at ages 1 & 2. It is closed now but we did snap a picture as well as a pic of the park they played in when they were little. It was cute to see them and (sort of) discuss when they were babies.

Our Spanish is so much better being in Colombia and today I realized that I was talking in my head in Spanish in the shower! Ha!

We ate dinner that Milena left for us and then watched a movie. Last night we had actually gone to see Mirror Mirror at the theater and it in NO Arclight! The seats are angled forward and let's just say the etiquette is no where near what it is in LA....phones ringing, people on phones, talking to each other, gum snapping, etc. The woman behind me was almost laying down in her seat and had her knee shaking in my seat for half the movie even though I turned around 2 times as did Evan. I ended up just leaning forward for the last half hour because I couldn't take it anymore. We are sticklers in LA movies so this was a whole different kind of animal.

Leidy fell asleep on the couch and now they are both in bed hopefully dreaming with some English. :)
