School, English, the mall (again) and art!

Late last night we got an email saying the girls we accepted into City School which is a new charter school the Larchmont Charter is starting. This is VERY GOOD news!!! Larchmont is one of the best schools in LA so we are excited they got it. When we went to the lottery a few weeks ago it didn't look all that promising since they were both drawn at the end but whatever happened, we are happy about!

Again, today was easy, fun & full of laughs. The girls had their first English lesson today which went really well. Their tutor will come for an hour every weekday. We put post-its everywhere in the apartment with the English & Spanish version of the word for what it is (kitchen, bed, hairbrush, etc). We did a little more studying with the girls after Dora left because she said she is giving them an exam tomorrow. I was helping Talia and I couldn't help but laugh because she got stuck on "dentist" and kept saying "dentits" over & over - fast, slow....I was trying so hard not to let my inner Beavis out!

After lunch we went to get Evan a SIM card for his phone at Hacienda Santa Barbara which is this super cool indoor / outdoor mall that we found out part of it is 500 years old (where we took the pictures below). We went to get the girls TB test results and then walked back to the mall while worrying about rain because it was thundering so loud. We made it back to the mall without any downpour and went to the supermarket in the mall along with a store to get soccer & basketballs to play in the park by our apartment.

We watched a movie called Sky Kids (I think), had dinner that Milena had left for us, studied a little more English and then Evan did art projects with the girls while I iced the shoulder.
